LEGO® Based Therapy is an evidence-informed, collaborative methodology originally developed by clinical neuropsychologist Dr Daniel LeGoff.
It brings people together through shared LEGO® brick building, using structured roles and collaborative problem-solving to create natural opportunities for communication, connection, teamwork and shared engagement.
Importantly LEGO® Based Therapy is much more than simply building with LEGO® bricks or using LEGO® as a social activity. The methodology has an established structure and purpose, while still allowing facilitators to respond to the individual strengths, communication styles, interests and support needs of the people participating.
Since its development, LEGO® Based Therapy has been researched, practiced and further developed nationally and internationally across therapeutic. educational and community settings. Contemporary practice continues to evolve, with neuroaffirming approaches placing greater emphasis on autonomy, authentic communication, individual strengths and creating environments where different ways of interacting and respected rather than corrected.
LEGO® Based Therapy was originally developed by clinical neuropsychologist Dr Daniel LeGoff in the mid 1990's. The approach grew from his observation that shared LEGO® brick building could create meaningful opportunities for children to connect, communicate and collaborate around a common interest.
Dr LeGoff subsequently develped the approach into a structured methodology, including collaborative building activities and defined roles such as Engineer, Supplier and Builder. His work has since contributed to an international body of research, professional literature and practice relating to LEGO® Based Therapy.
Today the methodology continues to be used, researched and developed nationally and internationally across therapeutic, educational and therapeutic settings.
Yes. LEGO® Based Therapy remains an established name for the methodology originally developed by Dr Daniel LeGoff. The term continues to be used nationally and internationally across research, professional literature, training and practice.
Different organisations and researchers may use alternative terminology or develop separately branded programs based upon or informed by the methodology. However, there is no universally mandated terminology or single recognised authority that has officially renamed LEGO® Based Therapy across the broader international field.
Over time, individual organisations and practitioners have developed their own programs, adaptations and approaches based upon or informed by LEGO® Based Therapy. However, the development of separately branded programs does not represent a universal renaming of the methodology, nor does the adoption of a different name by an individual organisation change the established terminology used across the broader field.
LEGO® Based Therapy therefore remains a recognised and appropriate term for describing the methodology and its contemporary application.
Yes. LEGO® Based Therapy is an evidence-informed methodology supported by a growing body of research and professional literature. Studies have explored its use in supporting social interaction, communication, engagement and collaborative participation, particularly with autistic children and young people.
Research into LEGO® Based Therapy has included individual studies, group-based interventions, systematic reviews and larger controlled trials. As with many therapeutic and educational approaches, the evidence continues to develop, and findings should be considered alongside study quality, individual needs, professional judgement and the context in which the methodology is being used.
At Progressive Play®, our LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification is informed by current research while also recognising the importance of neuro-affirming, strengths-based practice and the lived experiences of neurodivergent people.
LEGO® Based Therapy can be delivered in a neuro-affirming way when facilitators recognise and respect neurodivergent ways of communicating, interacting, playing and participating. A neuro-affirming approach focuses on individual strengths, autonomy, authentic connection and meaningful participation rather than trying to make a person appear or behave more neurotypical.
Contemporary LEGO® Based Therapy does not need to rely on rigid expectations around eye contact, communication style, social behaviour or strict adherence to roles. Structure can provide predictability and support, while still allowing flexibility and choice according to the needs, preferences and communication styles of participants.
At Progressive Play®, we recognise that neuro-affirming practice is not simply about changing terminology. It means considering how the methodology is facilitated, whose goals are being prioritised, how success is defined, and whether participants’ autonomy, communication and individual differences are genuinely respected.
Our LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification reflects these principles while maintaining the collaborative foundations of the methodology.
LEGO® Based Therapy can be facilitated by appropriately trained professionals across a range of therapeutic, educational, disability, wellbeing and community settings. Facilitators may include allied health professionals, teachers and educators, counsellors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, support professionals and others whose professional role is appropriate to the needs of the people they support.
Completing facilitator training does not provide someone with a new regulated professional qualification or permit them to work outside their existing professional scope of practice. For example, completing LEGO® Based Therapy facilitator training does not make someone a therapist, psychologist, counsellor or allied health professional.
The way LEGO® Based Therapy is used should therefore reflect the facilitator’s existing qualifications, professional responsibilities, scope of practice and the setting in which they work.
Progressive Play® has trained thousands of professionals nationally and internationally in LEGO® Based Therapy, supporting its application across diverse professional settings while maintaining a strong focus on appropriate, ethical and evidence-informed practice.
Yes. While LEGO® Based Therapy was originally developed through work with autistic children, the methodology has since been applied and adapted across different ages, populations and professional settings.
LEGO® Based Therapy can provide opportunities for communication, collaboration, shared problem-solving, connection and participation. How it is facilitated should always reflect the person’s age, interests, communication preferences, individual strengths, support needs and the purpose of the session.
Importantly, LEGO® Based Therapy should not become a one-size-fits-all intervention. The methodology provides structure, but skilled facilitation involves knowing when to use that structure, when to adapt it and how to create an environment in which participants can engage meaningfully and authentically.
Progressive Play® teaches contemporary LEGO® Based Therapy as an adaptable methodology rather than a rigid set of activities, while maintaining the core collaborative principles upon which the approach was developed.
Quality LEGO® Based Therapy facilitator training should do more than introduce the concept of the methodology - it should equip participants to understand how and why it is used, and how to facilitate it appropriately in practice.
Training should explore the foundations and evidence informing LEGO® Based Therapy, the facilitator’s role, collaborative building and roles, session structure and planning, group dynamics, communication, problem-solving, practical implementation, adaptation and contemporary neuro-affirming practice.
It should also help facilitators understand professional boundaries, individual differences and when adaptations may be appropriate, rather than teaching LEGO® Based Therapy as a rigid or one-size-fits-all approach.
Progressive Play® facilitator training has been developed with a strong focus on professional education, practical application and evidence-informed practice, so participants leave with an understanding of the methodology and how to apply it meaningfully within their own professional context.
LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method are distinct methodologies with different origins, structures, facilitation processes and purposes. Although both use LEGO® bricks to support engagement and communication, they are not interchangeable approaches.
LEGO® Based Therapy was originally developed by clinical neuropsychologist Dr Daniel LeGoff. It traditionally involves participants working collaboratively through structured roles such as Engineer, Supplier and Builder, with shared construction creating opportunities for communication, cooperation, negotiation, problem-solving and connection. Contemporary practice can retain these collaborative foundations while being adapted to the strengths, communication styles and support needs of participants.
The LEGO® Serious Play® method uses LEGO® model building as a way of thinking, communicating and exploring ideas. Participants build models in response to carefully designed questions, use metaphor and storytelling to give meaning to their models, and share their perspectives through facilitated discussion and reflection. Rather than focusing on completing a shared LEGO® construction, the model becomes a medium through which thoughts, experiences, ideas and perspectives can be made visible and explored.
The LEGO® Serious Play® method can be applied across diverse professional contexts, including therapeutic practice, mental health and wellbeing, education, leadership, teams and organisational development. Its application should be appropriate to the participants, setting and facilitator’s professional scope.
Progressive Play® provides specialist facilitator certification in both LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method, enabling professionals to understand not only how each methodology is facilitated, but why, when and where each approach may be appropriately applied.
Progressive Play® combines specialist knowledge of LEGO® based methodologies with extensive experience in professional education, clinical practice and facilitator training. Our courses are designed to provide more than an introduction to a methodology - they are developed to help participants understand the evidence, principles, practical application and professional considerations that underpin effective facilitation.
Progressive Play® training is developed under the leadership of an experienced Registered Nurse, clinical nurse educator and formally qualified trainer and assessor with more than 20 years’ experience in education and training. This brings together expertise in adult learning, mental health and wellbeing, professional education and the practical application of LEGO® based methodologies.
Our training is evidence-informed, neuro-affirming and continually reviewed to reflect evolving research, professional practice and the needs of the diverse professionals and communities we support.
Progressive Play® has trained more than 5,700 facilitators across LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method, with our training reaching professionals across Australia and more than 20 countries worldwide.
Our focus is not simply on completing a course or receiving a certificate. We want facilitators to leave understanding what they are doing, why they are doing it and how to apply their learning appropriately and confidently within their own professional context.
Yes. Progressive Play® facilitator certification courses are available to professionals across Australia and internationally. Our online, self-paced training enables participants to undertake professional development from wherever they are located, while working through the course at a time and pace that suits their professional and personal commitments.
Progressive Play® training has reached professionals across more than 20 countries worldwide, including those working across allied health, mental health, education, disability, community services and other professional settings.
Participants who successfully complete the requirements of their chosen certification course receive a Progressive Play® facilitator certificate, irrespective of where they are located.
Our international facilitator community reflects the broad and growing application of LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method across diverse professional, cultural and practice settings.
Progressive Play® facilitator certification courses are delivered 100% online and are self-paced, making professional development accessible to participants across Australia and internationally.
Participants can work through the learning content within their course-access period rather than being required to attend scheduled online classes. This provides flexibility for professionals balancing work, family and other commitments, while still allowing sufficient time to engage meaningfully with the training.
Courses include structured learning content, practical examples, downloadable resources and activities relevant to the methodology being studied. Where assessment or practical course requirements apply, these are clearly outlined within the individual course.
Online delivery does not mean abbreviated training. Progressive Play® courses are intentionally designed as comprehensive facilitator education, with a focus on understanding both the methodology and its practical application.
Progressive Play® facilitator certification courses are comprehensive, self-paced professional learning programs, allowing participants to work through their training at a pace that suits them within their course access period.
Our LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification provides approximately 6.5 hours of professional learning, while our LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification provides approximately 7.5 hours, depending on the specific course and application.
These hours indicate the approximate learning content and are not a time limit or an expectation that training must be completed in one sitting. Participants can pause their learning, revisit previous sections and review course material as often as they wish throughout their access period.
Single-course enrolments include three months of course access, while our Dual Enrolment option includes five months of access to complete both facilitator certifications.
Some participants complete their certification over a shorter period, while others spread their learning across several weeks and revisit sections to consolidate their knowledge.
Professional learning is about understanding and application, not simply completing content quickly. Our self-paced format provides time to learn, reflect, revisit and consolidate knowledge before certification.
Participants who successfully complete the requirements of their Progressive Play® facilitator certification course receive a certificate recognising completion of their training in the relevant methodology.
Graduates also receive a digital Facilitator Certification Badge relevant to the training they have completed. The badge can be used to identify their Progressive Play® certification in professional contexts, including email signatures, websites, professional profiles and promotional materials.
Graduates are also included in the Progressive Play® Facilitator Directory, helping individuals, organisations and communities locate facilitators who have completed Progressive Play® training nationally and internationally. Graduates who prefer not to be publicly listed can opt out of the directory.
Depending on the course undertaken, participants also receive professional learning materials and downloadable resources designed to support the practical application of their learning beyond course completion.
Progressive Play® facilitator certification adds specialised knowledge and practical skills to a participant’s existing professional skill set, supporting them to incorporate the relevant methodology into their work where appropriate. Facilitators remain responsible for applying their learning in accordance with the professional standards, responsibilities and requirements relevant to their role and setting.
Progressive Play® certification provides more than a certificate of completion - graduates leave with professional recognition, practical resources, additional skills and connection to a growing facilitator community across Australia and internationally.
Progressive Play® LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification is designed for professionals and others who work with or support children, young people and adults and want to develop specialised knowledge and practical skills in LEGO® Based Therapy.
Our facilitators come from diverse professional backgrounds, including occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, social work, counselling, education and teaching, nursing, developmental education, disability and community services, allied health, mental health, youth work, support work, therapy assistance and other professional and support roles.
You do not need previous LEGO® Based Therapy experience or advanced LEGO® building skills before commencing the course. However, how the methodology is applied following certification should be appropriate to the facilitator’s existing role, qualifications, responsibilities and practice setting.
LEGO® Based Therapy is not limited to NDIS-funded therapy. Teachers and educators may incorporate the methodology within educational settings, while disability support professionals, therapy assistants, community professionals and others may use relevant skills and approaches where these are appropriate to their role and setting.
In Australia, an important distinction applies when a service is being delivered and claimed specifically as an NDIS therapy support. Current NDIS guidance states that therapy supports must be delivered by appropriately qualified professionals who are AHPRA registered or accredited by the relevant peak body for a self-regulated profession. Examples recognised by the NDIS include occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, social work, counselling, developmental education, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, audiology, podiatry, orthoptics, art therapy, music therapy and rehabilitation and vocational counselling.
Completing Progressive Play® facilitator certification adds specialised LEGO® Based Therapy knowledge and practical skills to a participant’s professional skill set. How those skills are subsequently applied - including whether a service can be delivered and claimed as an NDIS-funded therapy support - depends on the facilitator’s existing qualifications, professional requirements, the participant’s individual needs and the relevant NDIS funding criteria.
Progressive Play® facilitator certifications do not have an expiry date. Once you have successfully completed the requirements of your certification course, your certificate remains evidence of the training you completed.
However, LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method continue to evolve alongside research, professional practice and our understanding of neuro-affirming approaches. Progressive Play® regularly reviews and updates its course content and resources to ensure our facilitator education remains contemporary and relevant.
We recommend that Progressive Play® facilitators consider undertaking refresher training approximately every three years to revisit the methodology, consolidate their knowledge and become familiar with updates that may have been introduced since they originally completed their certification.
Progressive Play® graduates can access refresher training at a reduced graduate rate. As this option is exclusively available to eligible past participants, it is not available for general enrolment through our website. Graduates wishing to undertake refresher training should contact us at info@progressiveplay.com.au, so we can confirm their previous certification and arrange enrolment at the applicable graduate rate.
Certification may not expire, but maintaining contemporary knowledge is an important part of confident, informed and responsible professional practice.
Yes. Completing your certification does not immediately end your course access. You can continue to access your course, revisit learning content and review available materials for the remainder of your original enrolment access period.
Single-course enrolments include three months of access, while our Dual Enrolment option includes five months of access. Your access period begins from the date your course enrolment is activated and continues for the applicable period, even if you complete your certification earlier.
We encourage participants to make use of this time to revisit sections of their training, consolidate their learning and review content as they begin applying the methodology within their professional setting.
Course access is provided exclusively to the individual participant enrolled in the training and is not transferable or shareable. Login details, course content, videos, resources and learning materials must not be shared with or made available to any other person. Each individual wishing to access or undertake the training must hold their own valid enrolment.
Unauthorised access by a third party, including allowing another person to view or undertake any part of the training through an enrolled participant’s account, may result in immediate cancellation of course access without refund.
Once the original access period has ended, eligible Progressive Play® graduates who wish to revisit the complete training can contact us at info@progressiveplay.com.au to enquire about refresher training at the reduced graduate rate.
Yes. We understand that circumstances can change and sometimes participants may need additional time to complete their training. If you are unable to complete your course within the allocated access period due to personal circumstances, health concerns, work commitments or other unexpected circumstances, you can request an extension.
Course extensions are available for $71.50 AUD including GST and provide an additional one month of course access to complete your existing enrolment.
The additional one-month access period commences from the date your course is reactivated, not from the date your original access expired. Once payment has been received, Progressive Play® will reactivate your course and send you an email confirming your reactivation and your new course-access end date.
We encourage participants who require additional time to contact Progressive Play® at info@progressiveplay.com.au to arrange their extension. An extension allows you to continue from where you left off - you do not need to restart your training or purchase the full course again.
Our aim is to provide reasonable flexibility when personal or professional circumstances affect a participant’s ability to complete their training within their original access period.
The LEGO® Serious Play® method is a facilitated thinking, communication and problem-solving methodology that uses LEGO® model building, metaphor, storytelling and reflection to help people explore ideas, experiences and perspectives.
Rather than relying solely on verbal discussion, participants build models in response to carefully designed questions. The models provide a tangible way to represent thoughts, ideas and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to express through words alone. Participants give meaning to their own models and use them as a basis for facilitated discussion, reflection and deeper exploration.
An important principle of the LEGO® Serious Play® method is that the person who builds the model determines what their model represents. The facilitator guides the process through carefully designed questions, active listening and reflection rather than interpreting a participant’s model for them.
Although the LEGO® Serious Play® method is widely recognised for its application within organisations, leadership and teams, its use extends well beyond corporate environments. The methodology can be appropriately applied across education, therapeutic practice, mental health and wellbeing, professional development, consultation, community settings and other contexts where meaningful exploration, participation and communication are important.
Progressive Play® provides specialist LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification pathways in Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health and Engaging Education, supporting professionals to understand both the foundations of the methodology and its appropriate application within their professional context.
The LEGO® Serious Play® method has a collaborative development history that began in the mid-1990s. The early concept emerged through work involving Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen of the LEGO company and professors Johan Roos and Bart Victor of IMD Business School in Switzerland, who were exploring new and more engaging approaches to strategy development.
In 1999, Robert Rasmussen, who had extensive experience in learning and development through LEGO Education, became involved and led the systematic development of the emerging ideas into a structured, reproducible methodology. Following numerous iterations, this work contributed to the development and launch of the LEGO® Serious Play® method in the early 2000s.
Per Kristiansen subsequently played an important role in the continued development and expansion of facilitator training, working closely with Robert Rasmussen. Rasmussen also continued to develop the methodology, including the Core Process and Application Techniques that became fundamental components of contemporary LEGO® Serious Play® practice.
Since then, the LEGO® Serious Play® method has continued to develop internationally and is now applied far beyond its original strategy and organisational context.
Understanding this history is important because LEGO® Serious Play® is an established methodology with defined foundations and facilitation processes - it is much more than simply using LEGO® bricks during a workshop or professional activity.
The LEGO® Serious Play® method is a versatile, facilitated methodology that can be applied across a wide range of professional settings. Through model building, metaphor, storytelling and facilitated reflection, it can help participants explore thoughts, experiences and perspectives, communicate complex ideas, develop shared understanding and make abstract concepts more tangible.
Although LEGO® Serious Play® is widely known for its application in business, strategy, leadership and team development, the methodology has valuable applications well beyond corporate environments.
In mental health, counselling, wellbeing and therapeutic settings, appropriately qualified professionals can use LEGO® Serious Play® to support reflection and exploration of experiences, emotions, relationships, identity, strengths, challenges, goals and possibilities. Building a model can provide another avenue for expression and communication, particularly when experiences or ideas may be difficult to explore through conversation alone.
Progressive Play® developed its LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification - Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health specifically for professionals wishing to understand how the methodology can be appropriately incorporated within mental health, counselling, wellbeing and therapeutic practice. Participants include psychologists, counsellors, social workers, mental health professionals and other suitably qualified practitioners.
In schools and educational settings, LEGO® Serious Play® can support student engagement, reflection, collaborative learning, exploration of ideas and perspectives, problem-solving and meaningful participation. It can also be used by educators for professional learning, planning, consultation and facilitated discussions.
Progressive Play® developed its LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification - Engaging Education specifically for teachers, educators and other professionals working within educational environments, with training focused on the application of the methodology within education rather than corporate facilitation.
Importantly, LEGO® Serious Play® is not a diagnostic tool, and facilitators do not interpret participants’ models for them. The person who builds the model determines what it represents, while the facilitator uses carefully designed questions and reflection to support exploration.
Progressive Play® provides specialist LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator education for therapeutic, mental health and educational applications, helping professionals understand not only how to facilitate the method, but how to apply it appropriately within their own professional setting.
When choosing LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator training for a specialist professional application, it is important to consider not only expertise in the methodology, but also the professional knowledge and experience underpinning the particular application being taught.
Expertise in the LEGO® Serious Play® method should not be confused with professional expertise in the setting in which the method is being applied. A facilitator may be highly experienced in LEGO® Serious Play® while not necessarily having the professional qualifications, knowledge or experience required to educate others about its application within mental health, therapeutic practice or education.
For therapeutic and mental health applications, training should be informed by genuine professional experience in mental health and wellbeing, ethical and trauma-informed practice, professional boundaries, psychological safety, therapeutic communication and the responsibilities involved when facilitating potentially sensitive or personal material.
For educational applications, training should demonstrate an understanding of learning environments, student engagement, developmental and educational considerations, inclusive practice and professional education. Applying LEGO® Serious Play® within a school or educational environment requires more than simply transferring a corporate workshop into a classroom.
Before choosing a training provider, professionals may wish to consider who developed the training, their qualifications and professional experience in the application being taught, the depth and relevance of the curriculum, and whether the training has genuinely been designed for that professional setting rather than simply rebadged for a different audience.
Progressive Play® provides two specialist LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification pathways: Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health and Engaging Education. These programs have been intentionally developed for their respective professional environments.
Progressive Play®’s Director and lead trainer is a Registered Nurse, experienced mental health professional, clinical nurse educator and formally qualified trainer and assessor, with more than 20 years’ experience across mental health, wellbeing, clinical education and professional training. This experience spans child, adolescent and adult mental health, acute inpatient services, emergency mental health assessment and psychiatric liaison, trauma-informed practice, suicide risk and crisis presentations, anxiety and depressive disorders, and alcohol and other drug-related presentations.
She also has 21 years’ previous experience as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner within Queensland Health, a statutory role requiring specific competencies under Queensland’s mental health legislation.
This extensive clinical and professional foundation directly informs Progressive Play®’s Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health training. Our Engaging Education pathway has likewise been purposefully developed for teachers and educators, focusing on the meaningful and appropriate application of LEGO® Serious Play® within schools and educational environments.
When training is promoted for a specialist professional application, both expertise in LEGO® Serious Play® and genuine professional expertise in the field in which it is being taught matter.
Both Progressive Play® LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification courses teach the foundations, standard applications and facilitation processes of the LEGO® Serious Play® method. The difference is that each course includes additional specialist content developed for the professional setting in which the methodology will be applied.
Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health is designed for appropriately qualified professionals working across mental health, counselling, wellbeing and therapeutic settings, including psychologists, counsellors, social workers, mental health professionals and other relevant practitioners. In addition to the standard LEGO® Serious Play® methodology, the course explores considerations and applications relevant to therapeutic and mental health practice.
Engaging Education is designed for teachers, educators and other professionals working within schools and educational environments. In addition to the standard LEGO® Serious Play® methodology, the course includes education-specific content and applications focused on engagement, learning, reflection, communication, collaborative exploration and the expression of ideas and perspectives.
It is not necessary or generally recommended to complete both LEGO® Serious Play® certification courses. Participants should choose the pathway that most closely aligns with their existing professional qualifications, background and the setting in which they intend to use the methodology.
For example, a therapist, counsellor or mental health professional would generally select Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health, while a teacher or educator would generally select Engaging Education.
Completing one pathway does not mean you are receiving an incomplete version of LEGO® Serious Play®. Both courses teach the standard LEGO® Serious Play® method and applications required for facilitator practice, with additional sector-specific learning incorporated for either therapeutic/mental health or educational settings.
Undertaking both courses would therefore involve substantial duplication of the core LEGO® Serious Play® content and is generally unnecessary. Progressive Play® would rather help participants select the training that is genuinely relevant to their professional practice than encourage enrolment in additional training they do not need.
If you are unsure which LEGO® Serious Play® certification pathway is appropriate for you, contact Progressive Play® at info@progressiveplay.com.au before enrolling and we can help you select the most suitable option
Progressive Play® Dual Enrolment combines our LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification with one LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitator Certification pathway, providing training in two distinct methodologies within one enrolment option.
Dual Enrolment is designed for professionals whose work would benefit from developing skills in both LEGO® Based Therapy and the LEGO® Serious Play® method. The methodologies have different origins, structures, facilitation processes and applications, providing professionals with two distinct approaches they can draw upon within their existing professional context.
Progressive Play® offers two Dual Enrolment pathways, allowing participants to select the option most relevant to their professional background and intended application:
LEGO® Based Therapy + LEGO® Serious Play® – Therapeutic Applications in Mental Health is designed for professionals working across mental health, counselling, wellbeing, allied health and therapeutic settings.
LEGO® Based Therapy + LEGO® Serious Play® – Engaging Education is designed for teachers, educators and other professionals working within schools and educational environments.
Both options include the complete LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator Certification and the standard foundations and applications of the LEGO® Serious Play® method, together with the specialist LEGO® Serious Play® content relevant to the participant’s chosen professional pathway.
Dual Enrolment should not be confused with completing both LEGO® Serious Play® certification courses. Participants generally need only the LEGO® Serious Play® pathway that aligns with their professional qualifications, background and intended application.
Dual Enrolment participants receive five months of course access, providing additional time to complete both certifications at their own pace, pause and return to their learning, and revisit course material throughout their access period.
Dual Enrolment is an ideal option for professionals who want to add both LEGO® Based Therapy and LEGO® Serious Play® to their professional skill set while ensuring their training remains relevant to their qualifications, role and practice setting.
Kinder Brick® is Progressive Play®’s purpose-developed early-years program for professionals working with young children approximately 2.5 to 6 years of age. Through playful, purposeful LEGO® brick-based experiences, Kinder Brick® creates opportunities for young children to learn, communicate, connect, explore and participate through something children naturally understand - play.
Kinder Brick® recognises that young children learn and engage differently from older children. Rather than taking a methodology designed for older children and simply adapting it down, Kinder Brick® has been intentionally developed around early childhood development, play-based learning and the unique ways young children communicate, participate and make sense of their world.
Through carefully designed activities and playful experiences, Kinder Brick® can create opportunities to support communication, shared engagement, cooperation, turn-taking, problem-solving, creativity, fine motor skills, confidence, choice and participation. Activities are designed to be flexible and responsive, recognising that children bring different strengths, interests, communication styles and ways of engaging.
Play remains at the heart of Kinder Brick®. The program provides structure and purpose without losing the creativity, curiosity, enjoyment and child-led moments that make early learning meaningful.
Kinder Brick® is relevant to early childhood educators, kindergarten and preschool professionals, teachers, allied health professionals and others who work with and support young children, with applications across early learning, educational and appropriate professional settings.
The program has been developed with consideration of Australia’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting meaningful connections between play, participation, learning and contemporary early childhood practice.
Kinder Brick® is a Progressive Play® program developed specifically for the early years, extending our commitment to evidence-informed, neuro-affirming, strengths-based and developmentally appropriate professional education.
Further information about Kinder Brick® training, program content and enrolment will be released as the program becomes available.
